In south-east Asia, high prevalence and dissemination of HIV maybe have the close association with the cross-border transmission between countries. Therefore, it’s very crucial to control and prevent this kind of transmission. The China-Myanmar border is a very particular region, which severs as a key channel for illegal drug trafficking from “Golden triangle” to China and other countries/regions, and with extremely high prevalence and complexity of HIV-1 recombinants. Currently, there are few studies focusing on the molecular epidemiology of HIV among different high-risk groups or the cross-border transmission of HIV in this border area. However, these studies are very important and valuable for making the policies to control HIV crossing border. Long-distance truck drivers (LDTDs), due to high mobility of their accupation, are considered to be infected with HIV under high potentiality and to further spread the virus to other individuals.
